'The King's Speech' is Best Picture 2011 Academy Awards

$3.4 Billion in Free Scholarships.

Each year, Hollywood’s schedule more or less culminates with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences handing out Oscars for the year’s best films and Sunday, for the 83rd straight time, it happens again. Hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway helped some of the most famous actors and actresses in the world hand out the hardware for the best of 2010 it was telecast live from the historic Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.

Franco and Hathaway kicked off the show by making their way through several Best Picture nominees like Inception with special guests like Alec Baldwin, one of last year's hosts. I thought this year's ceremony went rather smoothly since the idea behind Hathaway and Franco's hosting duties was to bring a sense of youth to the show i think they did a great job.

Read on for the complete list of nominees and winners. Be sure to let us know what you think of the results! Winners are highlighted in BOLD below.

PICTURE:
Black Swan
The Fighter
Inception
The Kids Are All Right
Winner! The King's Speech
127 Hours
The Social Network
Toy Story 3
True Grit
Winter's Bone

Thoughts: Within the last few weeks, I was starting to jump on The Social Network bandwagon, I wanted it to win. But here's the truth - I really love both The King's Speech and The Social Network, almost equally. But I knew TKS would win the moment I first saw it and it did. Yes, it plays right to the Academy, but I knew that when I walked out. It's a fantastic film, both of them are - I would've been happy with either winning.

DIRECTOR:
Darren Aronofsky - Black Swan
David Fincher - The Social Network
Winner! Tom Hooper - The King's Speech
Joel & Ethan Coen - True Grit
David O. Russell - The Fighter

Thoughts: You know, I loved The King's Speech and I should be totally happy, but this is a weird category. All great guys and it's a tough year to decide, but it looks like the Academy is swaying towards TKS this time.

ACTOR:
Javier Bardem - Biutiful
Jeff Bridges - True Grit
Jesse Eisenberg - The Social Network
Winner! Colin Firth - The King's Speech
James Franco - 127 Hours

Thoughts: Yep, I knew it. The moment I walked out of The King's Speech last September, I proclaimed that Colin Firth would win the Oscar. It's now five months later and that prediction has come true. Deserves it!

ACTRESS:
Annette Bening - The Kids Are All Right
Nicole Kidman - Rabbit Hole
Jennifer Lawrence - Winter's Bone
Winner! Natalie Portman - Black Swan
Michelle Williams - Blue Valentine

Thoughts: Thank goodness, Natalie deserves it so much, this was her award to win and I'm glad she got it. No Annette Bening, it was Portman's year - hell yes! I'm so incredibly excited and happy she won, congrats!

SUPPORTING ACTOR:
Winner! Christian Bale - The Fighter
John Hawkes - Winter's Bone
Jeremy Renner - The Town
Mark Ruffalo - The Kids Are All Right
Geoffrey Rush - The King's Speech

Thoughts: I thought Bale deserved this the moment I walked out of The Fighter, I'm happy to see him win!

SUPPORTING ACTRESS:
Amy Adams - The Fighter
Helena Bonham Carter - The King's Speech
Winner! Melissa Leo - The Fighter
Hailee Steinfeld - True Grit
Jacki Weaver - Animal Kingdom

Thoughts: Totally expected and yet also totally deserving. Leo was incredible and I'm glad she won for this.

ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY:
Mike Leigh - Another Year
Scott Silver & Paul Tamasy & Eric Johnson - The Fighter
Christopher Nolan - Inception
Lisa Cholodenko & Stuart Blumberg - The Kids Are All Right
Winner! David Seidler - The King's Speech

Thoughts: Very same thoughts as Aaron Sorkin below. The writers winners' speeches are always fun to hear.

Danny Boyle & Simon Beaufoy - 127 Hours
Winner! Aaron Sorkin - The Social Network
Michael Arndt - Toy Story 3
Joel Coen & Ethan Coen - True Grit
Debra Granik & Anne Rosellini - Winter's Bone

Thoughts: Expected but deserving, as seems to be the big trend tonight. But hell yea go Sorkin, a great win!

ANIMATED FEATURE:
How to Train Your Dragon
The Illusionist
Winner! Toy Story 3

Thoughts: All three of the films nominated this year were fantastic, even How to Train Your Dragon, but as always, Pixar wins again. Though Toy Story 3 deserved it anyway. It IS also nominated for Best Picture, too!

Incendies (Canada)
Outside the Law (Algeria)

Danny Cohen - The King's Speech
Jeff Cronenweth - The Social Network
Roger Deakins - True Grit

Thoughts: YES! Congrats - finally the first awesome, deserving win of the night. This is Wally Pfister's first Oscar and its been a longtime coming, he really deserves this. I'm so happy to see Inception win an Oscar!

VISUAL EFFECTS:
Alice in Wonderland
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
Hereafter
Winner! Inception
Iron Man 2

Thoughts: Wow awesome, this is definitely deserved, Inception had some amazingly seamless visual effects. Though I am starting to wonder if Inception is winning all of the technical categories as a way of say "sorry we didn't nominated Chris Nolan for Best Director" because damnit, he needs to get nominated if his own film wins this many! We've only got another few years to wait for the chance to hit the Oscars again - right?

ART DIRECTION:
Winner! Alice in Wonderland
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
Inception
The King's Speech
True Grit

Thoughts: Whoa - what? Really? Not that it was bad, but out of all the other nominees? What the heck? I guess the Academy really loves the Tim Burton's crazy worlds. Not that great of a win, honestly, but oh well.

COSTUME DESIGN:
Winner! Alice in Wonderland
I Am Love
The King's Speech
The Tempest
True Grit

Thoughts: Costume and make-up were announced together and I honestly don't have much to say about either, they were both wins I expected to see coming. As I said before, the Academy really loves Tim Burton.

MAKEUP:
Barney's Version
The Way Back
Winner! The Wolfman

FILM EDITING:
Black Swan
The Fighter
The King's Speech
127 Hours

Winner! The Social Network

Thoughts: Awesome, another great win for The Social Network. This is one of those categories that some say TSN should win simply because of the monumental task of sorting out Fincher's hundreds of takes.

SOUND MIXING:
Winner! Inception
The King's Speech
Salt
The Social Network
True Grit

Thoughts: Good, I love Inception, but why not The Social Network? That had amazing mixing - club scene?!

SOUND EDITING:
Winner! Inception
Toy Story 3
Tron Legacy
True Grit
Unstoppable

Thoughts: "I owe this 1000% to Chris Nolan." Another solid award for Inception, it did have great sound.

ORIGINAL SCORE:
John Powell - How to Train Your Dragon
Hans Zimmer - Inception
Alexandre Desplat - The King's Speech
A.R. Rahman - 127 Hours
Winner! Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross - The Social Network

Thoughts: YES!! Everyone though one of the more conventional scores was going to win this year, but nope, the most original and Oscar-worthy score of all actually won it. Congrats, it's definitely a score for the ages!!

ORIGINAL SONG:
"Coming Home" from Country Strong
"I See the Light" from Tangled
"If I Rise" from 127 Hours
Winner! "We Belong Together" from Toy Story 3 by Randy Newman

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD:

Cinematic Discussion: What Makes a Great Female Role Model?

Note : As this cinematic discussion is meant for contemporary audiences, these examples will be equally contemporary. Just as women and men are different, we've all evolved with the times. And one's role model, for the most part, often represents one's contemporary outlook for their future self. Believe it or not, a man can discuss and write about issues of feminism. While some may be woefully ignorant or just banefully uninterested, take notice, guys, you shouldn't be. And not all of us are — completely, anyway. So, with that in mind, there's one particular issue of feminism, of the representation of females, that I want to discuss at the moment: What makes a great female role model? (Of course, as localized to the medium of film.) What are the elements of a female character that should be most sought after by writers hoping to create strong, relatable, fleshed-out characters? What makes the characters who imbue those elements great role models? And what are some...

Where the wild thing are interview.

This may only be his third feature film, but I still think it’s appropriate to call Spike Jonze a visionary filmmaker. His work, both on the big screen and on the small screen (all of his music videos), is some of the most honest, creative, and unique I’ve ever seen. A few weeks back, after seeing Spike’s Where the WIld Things Are, I went to the Beverly Hilton Hotel to interview Mr. Jonze, and he invited me into bed. I’m not even joking - Spike and I got into bed together (not under the covers, of course!) to talk about bringing Maurice Sendak’s beloved children’s book to life on the big screen exactly the way he first envisioned it. I wish I had a photo, or video, to prove that we did this in bed, but I don’t. Spike had been tired from doing press all day and needed to rest, so since we were in a hotel room, he invited me to do the interview in bed. Sure it was a little bit awkward and very intimate, but I felt that was able to talk with Spike in a way that I don’t think most people a...
